Day number 2 of our trip started with a stop at
Joey's Pancake House. Hands down,
the best pancakes I've ever had. So light and fluffy! You can challenge me...if you dare. After breakfast , it was all aboard on the
Great Smoky Mountain Railroad! During the month of October they offer the "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!" train ride. Being a lover of all things Fall related and growing up watching "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" every October I knew I was going to enjoy this and was looking forward to being able to share this experience with Landon. The train takes you on a 45 minute ride through the mountains to a pumpkin patch. It was so much fun, with a beautiful view the whole way there. Upon arrival you are greeted by Charlie Brown and Lucy for a super cute photo opt. There was a smore making station, bobbing for apples, a stand to make your own leather bracelets, hayrides, live music, a pumpkin patch where you are able to pick your own pumpkin and my favorite part.. which was called "Trick or Treat Street". It was a little area blocked off into different house door fronts, you would knock on the door and reply "Trick or Treat" once the door was open. In return you were given candy. It's the same as regular trick or treating. Except these are fake houses and it wasn't Halloween so I guess the only thing that was the same was the knocking on the door and getting candy. You get the idea.
After about an hour and a half it was time to board the train for another 45 minute ride back through the mountains. It was a fantastic day spent with my family and would definitely recommend it! Small children or the young at heart, I really think anyone would enjoy it. They offer different rides throughout the year...even a Polar Express Ride during the winter!
