unfortunate situations // 27

i tend to get myself into embarrassing situations on the regular. like yesterday. we are having our house re painted on the outside. i had to pee. all of a sudden i'm staring face to face with one of the painters through the glass block that is on the roof of the bathroom. i just casually stood up. walked off. and pretended like nothing happened. i kept thinking to myself "maybe he just thinks i was doing something else in the bathroom, you know, checking to make sure all the outlets are working?  all while calling rey freaking out. he claims the guy couldn't see me. i beg to differ. if i could see him. he could see me. now i just have to find a way to avoid making eye contact with the guy for the next three days.

wed-nes-day // 26

know what i hate? the word wednesday. not the day itself. just the spelling of the word. in my {ahem} thirty-one years of being on this earth i still have to say to myself each time i'm typing it out, writing, telegraphing, what have you. wed-nes-day. just a little food for thought.
happy wed-nes-day.

holey moley // 25

the shirt i'm wearing below has huge holes in the armpits. too bad i wore the shirt once. washed it once. then the holes appeared. later, i was casually searching the urban outfitters website and stumbled across reviews for said shirt. apparently this was an issue for all purchasers of this frock. i thought to myself "no, shirt. you aren't going to beat me this time." i showed her. i threw a vest on top and you couldn't even tell. until i raised my arms to show rey "hey! look! i have holes in this shirt and you can't even tell and if someone asks why i'lll just tell them instead of shoulder cut outs i have armpit cut outs." he then politely informed me "your shirt does have shoulder cut outs."
whatever. i still feel like a winner

pin straight // 24

i straighten my hair twice a year. the first is usually a random saturday night while watching dateline i'll decide it's as good a time as any to straighten my hair and the second is valentine's day. i would do it more frequently but it takes a lot of combing and pinning and arm strength, then i begin to sweat and it just turns into a whole ordeal. thankfully on this particular friday it was a chilly evening so no sweat was produced while doing so.

sunshiney // 23

my husband picked out this dress for me for valentine's day. all on his own. with a little help from instagram. he gets me. no need for flowers that will die in three hours or chocolates that i really don't care for. a dress. that's all i need in my life. oh. and a dozen cupcakes.

be mine // 22

happy valentine's day. all i have to offer are these half eaten dozen donuts from krispy kreme. when they say "hot now" they really mean eat all twelve of me in one sitting. lucky for landon i refrained myself and only had seven and left five for him. because, that's what good mothers do. and that's real love.

street sweeper // 21

since it's been kinda coldish here in the f l a i've been rotating between the three sweaters i own. most of which are cropped, thin or basically see through. the particular one featured below is both thin and see through in certain spots. also, it comes in handy as a street sweeper. every time i sit down in the car i forget to sweep the tale end of the fringe into the car. once i arrive to my destination, i open the door, see the fringe dangling from my door covered in dirt, water, something that looks sticky, and a comb. just doing my part to keep the streets of lake mary clean.

weather rebels // 20

i wore this to hollywood studios on saturday. it was like fifty and raining. fifty in florida weather is the equivalent to fifty-two below zero in alaskans weather. this sweater is cropped and basically see through. along with my suede perforated open toed boots they made for a deadly combination. between feeling the breeze and rain on my chest and the gooey soggy feeling i had on my toes, we surprisingly had a good day. it probably helps that hollywood studios serves beer.

dean & grace // 19

Are you guys familiar with Dean & Grace yet? They are an amazing duo of stay-at-home moms turned entrepreneurs. They were tired of the endless toddler meltdowns we have all experienced from time to time while shopping with our littles. Dean & Grace is a text based auction shopping option. Their company, Dean & Grace, sends text message pictures to parents who have opted-in to their shopping club.  The text contains a picture of an outfit, along with a brief description including size and price. Customers can reply back with a text to place an order.

“As a mom, I always have my phone on me,” says Co-Owner Sara Peak.  “To me, there could not possibly be an easier way to shop than through text.  It’s fast…it’s easy…it’s lazy, and I love it.”

Signing up to receive texts is free and can be done through the company’s website, www.deanandgrace.com, or by simply texting “Joindg” to 76000 from a mobile phone (check you’re your carrier to see if data or message rates may apply).  Parents choose their child’s size and gender so they only receive messages appropriate to their needs.

“We want to do the hard work for the parents, and let shopping be fun again,” says Co-Owner Whitney Nordmoe. “We find unique and quality outfits, send a picture of it out to our members, and even provide free shipping right to their doorstep.  It couldn’t get easier.”

Dean & Grace works on the new auction-based shopping format, similar to Facebook auction sales, in which quantities are limited.  “When we text a picture out, we have limited quantities of each item,” says Peak.  “The first to reply are the ones whose orders are fulfilled.”

Dean & Grace offers clothes for boys and girls sizes newborn to 5T.  For more information, visit www.deanandgrace.com, of the company’s Facebook page,  www.facebook.com/deanandgrace

I love the Masala Baby shirt I received for Landon. Not only is the quality amazing, it could easily go from an afternoon at the park to dinner in the evening. The pattern was perfect for hiding those pesky juice and grass stains two-year-olds seem to magically appear. I can't wait to order our next item!

keepin it even realer // 17

if you read yesterday's post then you are familiar with the target family bathroom debacle.
reference here if you are confused.
yesterdays experience takes a close second. landon has been sick with a cold for the past week or so. dirty preschool germs do that to ya. even with a hacking cough we decided to venture out. those two for twenty-five bath and body works candles needed to be purchased. no cough was holding us back. famous last words. one minute you are perusing the aisles smelling the most recent raspberry peach macaroon scent. the next you are pushing your stroller out of the store so quickly you knock over a stand of antibacs due to a toddler vomiting all over his lap. you reach into your bag to pull out your wipes. two wipes left. two wipes left to clean up toddler puke lap. sounds about right. sorry to gross you out first thing on a friday. daily life with a two year old tends to be grimy. motherhood aint for the faint at heart.

don't forget to enter my freshly picked giveaway! ends on monday! click here to enter. good luck!

real life //16

you haven't lived until you go to use the restroom in the target family bathroom with your two year old because you haven't peed in what seems like four hours.  the situation can go down a little something like this:
"no! landon don't open the door! no. no. please don't open the door!" door opened. landon makes a run for it. then all of a sudden your frozen mid pee stream with overwhelming terror. do i finish? do i just pull up my pants and chase after him?
thank god for anti bac.

make sure you have entered my freshly picked giveaway to win a free pair of moccs here!
