science // 85

during the summer i have to keep landon busy. whether it's going to the movies, park, swimming, beach, target trips or the science center we both have to keep moving. he inherited my need to always be out and about. i have a real issue with just sitting still and have definitely passed it on to him. a couple of weeks ago we made a trip to the science center. played with some trains. worked on some cars and caught hand foot and mouth disease. at least thats where i think he caught it. i'm sure it's more likely he got it from a dirty target shopping cart, a place we frequent at least five times a week, over a place we go to once a month. in my mind it was the science center. i just can't quit you target. happy thursday!

toddlerbomber // 84

i love a good photobomber. i've never actually photobombed. at least not intentionally. there could be a photo floating around on the internet of me in the background of a photo totally clueless and confused. now that i think about it, that is actually extremely probable. landon is one of the best when it comes to bombing. sometimes it's on purpose. sometimes he is in a race with lightening mcqueen on his bike and is so wrapped up in that world that he doesn't even realize his mother is trying to have her photo taken. other times he just straight up doesn't care and will jump right in front of you. that kid. he can do it all.

diy // slime // 83

over the weekend landon and i made slime. and by landon and i, i mean me. landon took a nap and i did all the hard work. making this reminded me of gak. which got me thinking "i haven't seen gak in awhile. let me google." sure enough gak came out in 1986 which confirms i am old. thanks. back to slime making. this was super easy to make. thus why i am documenting it. usually all my ideas turn into pinterest fails. so when something actually works i have to write it down. ok. let me be honest. this is the second batch i made. the first one could have been used as glue.

*disclaimer* this slime uses borax. if you are against borax. which again, google saves the day. apparently some people are really against the use of borax. listen. my kid isn't going to be eating this and if yours is then that sounds like a personal problem.

Homemade Slime

1 teaspoon borax powder

1 1/2 cup water, divided

4oz bottle of elmer's glue, clear or white will work

paint or food coloring of your choice

glitter

Add borax powder to 1 cup of water and stir until it dissolves. set that aside. pour glue into a mixing box and add 1/2 cup of water. add paint or food coloring of your choice until you reach the color desired. i also added glitter to mine. in the blue you can't really see it but in the black/green you can. keep stirring to mix the glue solution until it's smooth. now pour the borax mixture into the glue mixture and see the solids start to form. keep stirring for a few moments and then use your hands to form a mass. the mixture will feel very soft and kinda gross. keep kneading even when you think "ew this feels really nasty" at that point it will start to firm up and feel dry.  the more you keep kneading the firmer it will become. store in a ziplock bag or air tight container. voila! you are done.

happiest place on earth // 82

i never realized how much i love disney until i had landon, and until they invented fast pass. fast pass is the eternal life saver when it comes to any disney trip. that, and epcot's margaritas in mexico. since landon turned two we have had annual passes. we go for a few hours, see some characters, ride some rides and park hop, it's a great way to spend a saturday afternoon. and. you don't feel so bad eating that cronut since you sweat out five pounds due to excessive heat. i don't know how non-floridians aka tourist do it.

strapped // 81

this dress.  i love it. and then i kinda hate it. when i first grabbed it just by looking i could tell it was something i would enjoy. the color. the style. the shape. the everything. then i realized the straps were going fifteen different ways so i decided instead of doing my usual over the head in the middle of the store try on i should actually walk into the dressing room and remove my clothing to try this piece on.  which i did. everything went smoothly until i had to figure out the straps. then i started sweating. landon woke up from napping in his stroller asking for chips and chicken while still half asleep. desperate and sweaty i took the dress off. threw on my previous attire. ran to the counter. purchased the dress and decided those straps can't be that hard. i'll figure it out. i was wrong. after again trying at home i got the genius idea to google the dress on their website and see how the model fixed her straps. once seeing the photo it really wasn't that difficult and now looking at my photos i took you can't even really see my straps or the back of the dress to even see what i'm talking about. so, basically, this was a waste of a story. you're welcome.

parks. playgrounds. swing sets // 79

landon loves playgrounds. parks. swing sets. slides. what have you. i on the other hand do not share the same enthusiasm as he. mainly due to the fact the other moms at these establishments can be rude and judgmental. preschool moms are brutal. i see you giving me the evil eye for wearing my shorts that appear to have been tossed through a meat grinder.

Did you know July is celebrated as National Vacation Rental Month?  Summer is upon us as you might have noticed and July is the most popular month to stay in a vacation rental. What better time to travel? Kids are out of school and everyone could use a little getaway every now and then. Wyndham Vacation Rentals offers great choices for a family vacation. Read on to learn why you should choose Wyndham Vacation Rentals for your next family retreat.

1. Space. Space and more space. Wyndham Vacation Rentals has you covered in that department. When traveling with kids or larger groups space is always important. The kids want their own area to play and so does Grandma Jean. You also can't beat the in-home amenities offered liked full kitchens, washers and dryers. Having an adventurous toddler I can always benefit from a a washer and dryer to get those tough stains out before we even head home.

2. You can get all the amenities of a hotel at many properties such as shuttle service, a concierge and housekeeping. I love the thought of having my own privacy at a Wyndham Vacation Rental with all the hotel-like amenities to go with. I call that a win!

3. Save! Save! Save! This summer by booking with Wyndham Vacation Rentals you can save up to 35% off. Check it out here at WyndhamVacationRentals.com You can find amazing destinations like Park City, Gatlinburg and Orlando just to name a few. Personally, I'm already planning our next family getaway to Charleston, I hear it's beautiful this time of year and filled with culture and good food!

top gun // 77

my father-in-law is a pilot and over the weekend we took landon to check out his hangar and see the planes. landon thinks every time he sees an airplane in the sky it's grandpa. "mommy! it's grandpa! hi grandpa! bye grandpa!" he had so much fun checking out the planes, helping clean them with his own rag and just acting like he owned the place like he usually does. of course when it came time to leave he didn't quite understand that we weren't moving in to the hangar and that the planes and the helicopter did not actually belong to him. hard things to understand at the age of three.
