Saturday's Halloween Celebration

Saturday, we took Landon to the Fall Festival at our local YMCA. My younger, early 20's self is probably rolling over in her grave at the thought of hanging out at the YMCA filled with screaming children instead of downtown, dressed as some sort of beer wench or a pirate. Oh how the times have changed.
I wouldn't trade it for the world.
Landon dressed as Woody from Toy Story and I happen to think he is the most adorable Woody I have ever laid eyes on. I may be a teeny bit partial. Tonight the whole family will be dressing up to hand out candy and to take Landon Trick or Treating.
 Have a Happy Halloween!

Pumpkin Carving!

Rey & I carved our pumpkins this past Thursday evening, and by carving I mean I watched and took pictures while Rey did all of the hard work. I think he did  great and they turned out super cute! Super excited for Halloween tomorrow!

Pumpkins cleaned and ready for carving!

Carving tools that I'm sure everyone in the world uses...

This is the pumpkin we entered into the YMCA pumpkin carving contest.

Getting the stencil ready to carve our pumpkin.

Landon's first Halloween card from one of my good friends. :)

Finished product! Happy Halloween!!

Halloween Cupcakes & Pumpkin Picking

My weekend consisted of Halloween Cupcakes from my favorite cupcake bakery Sweet! , pumpkin picking with my favorite little skeleton, simmering homemade chili made by myself and Rey and capped it off with some Pumpkin Ale!

Cabins & a Day Spent in the Leaves

For our final day in the mountains we ventured literally through the mountains to Spring Creek, where my family used to have a beautiful cabin. Spring Creek is a good 45 min to an hour from any sort of civilization. So you better be prepared to have no cell service, not run low on gas and have a strong stomach to not get queasy from the sharp turns and twists. I used to love visiting the cabin as a child with my parents and grandparents. These were the times before I felt I needed my iPhone in my hand every other minute to check Facebook and TMZ
. Whatever happened to those days.?
My brother and I would play in the creek next to the barn, ride the tractor up and down the hill and search through the barn for any treasures we could find. Usually the only things we would find were rusty hammers and maybe a random birdhouse or bench. (My grandparents had an odd obsession with collection bird houses and benches, to this day I still don't quite get it.)
We spent the day winding through the mountain roads, wondering if we were going to run out of gas, praying Landon would not start screaming at any given second and stopping for photo opts at some of the most beautiful locations.
